A Pinterest-Worthy Closet for a Young Radio DJ

What She Wanted

A young radio DJ in San Antonio, Texas, Jenny Lee was charmed by the cottage-like feel of her first home. But the master closet, though spacious, was poorly organized, with hanging bars she couldn’t reach and wasted space throughout. Her solution? She simply didn’t use it, preferring to hide her “explosion of clothes” in the guest room.

Soon after visiting California Closets San Antonio’s showroom, Jenny discovered inspiration for the closet of her dreams: elegant white finish, brass detailing, styled out with a posh chandelier.

How we did it

Aesthetically speaking, Jenny knew exactly what she wanted. Her organizational needs, however, were less clear. Jenny worked closely with design consultant Mariana Rivera to create a custom system that would combine style and improved function.

She came to my house and measured everything. There was so much attention to detail. She counted all my clothes. She counted my shoes. She made sure there was a place for everything. And she took everything I said into consideration, using her knowledge to put it all together.

Together, they collaborated on an elegant design, incorporating details such as hardware and lighting that would make the space feel personal and unique.

I can literally just stand in the closet. It's the best room in my house for sure.

Final Result

With Mariana’s help, Jenny was able to achieve the polished showroom setup that she’d so admired all her own—white wood, shiny brass handles, a chandelier and all. Her favorite part? Translucent, custom doors that look, as Jenny describes, like a cascade of gold ribbons.

It doesn’t feel like something you can have in your first home—it's more like a closet that I would have seen on Pinterest and thought, ‘Someday, I'd love to have this, but this is for somebody a little more established.’ Now, all my stuff is in here, and it’s just beautiful.
