Visionary architect Dan Brunn of Dan Brunn Architecture has a knack for pushing the limits of modern design and engineering. And the master walk-in closet for his forward-thinking home in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles was no exception.
His home, known as the Bridge House Project, is a long rectangular, modern space surrounded by a forest and built over a stream. Dan wanted his closet to reflect his overall vision for the house: clean, modern, open, and natural.
Dan wanted a closet space that reflected the architectural vision of the home and tied in natural elements in keeping with the residence’s forest setting.
Dan partnered with California Closets Los Angeles to extend his vision to his closet. Working with design consultant Darlene Lillehaugen, they designed a streamlined but spacious walk-in closet using the Virtuoso Collection to mirror the home’s unique shape.
Just above the two long hanging rods, the team also included a row of lighting to give the space a warm, glowing feel—especially at night. As a final touch, Dan added a mirror that spans the closet’s back wall to make it feel larger and more open.
Darlene LillehaugenThe long fluid horizontal lines that define the Virtuoso System mirrors the overall construction of the 210-foot-long home.
The simple yet beautiful closet seamlessly blends into the unique and innovative home. It also artfully displays Dan’s collection of clothing and shoes—much like how he uses the walls of the Bridge House Project to showcase a revolving collection of art.
