Jeanne Chan seems to do it all! The busy mom of two is the beloved blogger behind Shop Sweet Things and also finds time to run Harlow & Grey—a line of modern party goods—with her cousin, event designer Gloria Wong. When Jeanne and her family moved into a new home, Jeanne called on California Closets to help create effective custom storage systems for the closets, as well as a play/utility room that could easily transition for the family’s needs over time.
I had several goals going into that space; I wanted to push the limit. I wanted a playroom for my girls plus a laundry room, but I also wanted the room to transition to my home office later. I gave Sarah a bit of a challenge.
Jeanne worked with California Closets San Francisco design consultant Sarah Winge to create a multi-functional playroom with toy storage and laundry that could easily evolve into an office once her daughters grew older. Sarah incorporated a place for arts and crafts, a reading nook, and open shelving that can host toys now and office supplies later. For the laundry area, Sarah used closed shelving and storage to keep cleaning supplies out of sight.
Jeanne ChanSarah worked to understand my family’s lifestyle and saw the room’s potential. It was a tricky space to work with, but she made it very multi-functional. I was really impressed.
Simple yet effective, Sarah’s custom design gives Jeanne the multi-functional and transitional solution she needed. Jeanne’s girls love their playroom, and the design optimizes the room so that they can really utilize and enjoy their play area, and of course—to Jeanne’s delight—keep it tidy!
My girls hang out in there a lot, doing arts and crafts, reading, or playing Legos. The space is really functional, organized, clean, and in control. It makes me very happy. And if I’m a happier person, I’m a happier mom.
